WELCOME! / Join Cohesity and EPN for an evening of education and networking

This discussion is about the IT community’s experiences with ransomware attacks. You will have a chance to listen, learn and engage with speakers as they take you through the key steps in protecting yourself against attackers.

As a small group, it will prove an ideal opportunity to find the underlying cause of the problem. This is a great chance to talk in a private group, while still having an opportunity to network.

AGENDA

18:00 – Arrival

18:10 – 18:20 – Chairperson’s Welcoming Remarks by Cohesity

18:20 – 18:50 – Thinking Big Picture: The evolution of the ransomware landscape & what this has meant for organisation’s defences – Christoph Bernius, CISO Allianz Deutschland AG

  • Trends & triumphs of ransomware attackers in the past 2-5 years
  • Today’s organizations discuss the preventions of Ransomware and potential breaches, but the real discussion should be around: Assuming the breach – how can you minimize the impact of it
  • Risk Assessment – Assessing technology developments that have helped protect & respond to ransom attacks & how far we have to go to keep up
  • How can your strategies remain agile & contend with the ever-evolving threat landscape?
  • Ransomware continues to be the primary threat to cyber resilience and new variants that are undetectable continue to emerge

18:50 – 19:20 – With no silver bullet, aim for backup: Recovery as the first line of defence against Ransomware – James Blake, EMEA CISO Cohesity

  • How can ML technologies be leveraged to assess impact of a ransomware attack & detect anomalies successfully?
  • Do not discuss the likelihood of a breach, but the impact that can be realized within 12 months and with this better assess investments in a company.
  • How can you minimise downtime?
  • How immutable are your backup products? Recovery solutions need to provide immutability, zero trust, and support existing security controls/processes
  • How can you successfully take a policy-based approach to vaulting?
  • Can you recover at scale? Getting VMs and data to users is key.

19:20 – 19:40 – Interactive Q&A Discussion Group

Debate with your fellow thought leaders & unearth transformative solutions

James Blake

James Blake

Cohesity

The security veteran has spent much of the past two decades building the end-to-end preventative and detective cyber operations capabilities for the world’s largest physical retailer, a technology company, a software house, a logistics company and an oil company along other organisations. While in this role he was hands-on with customers, dealing with incidents and the impacts of a lack of resiliency, including wipers from nation-states and ransomware attacks, Blake was also one of the co-founders of the Security BSides London conference and was the inaugural chair of the National Cyber Security Centre’s Cyber Information Sharing Partnership. Before joining Cohesity, Blake was the CISO at Rubrik. Prior to Rubrik, he was the Advisory Chief Information Security Officer for ServiceNow. In both positions he engaged with C-level at FTSE 100 and FORTUNE 100 organizations, helping build and deliver strategies and concepts about improving the effectiveness and efficiency of cyber resilience in today’s operating environment.
